Superstar Chow Yun Fat portrays Cheng Wei who rises to fame in the Fu jewelry shop after graduating from university. However, after using company funds to pay the debts of his game-addicted mother he is spotted by his sinister colleague Yuan Qi Chang who reports the incident to the police at once. Therefore, Wei is imprisoned and also loses his lover A Wen (Carol Cheng) who is the daughter of the company boss. During his stay in jail, Wei is able to makes friends with the triad society and receives a parole afterwards. Through his connection with the crime world he also gets the chance to work at another jewelry shop where he again achieves remarkable results. Later on he hears that A Wen 's father has passed away and that Chang is now in control of the Fu jewelry store threatening to make A Wen leave. Wei unsure whether he is in love with the former TV star Ou Xiao Hua (Au Yeung Pui San) that he just met or his old lover A Wen makes the climatic decision to stand up against the despicable Chang...
