He is a foreign student of Harvard Law School. He grew up in a famous family involved in laws. His father is the representative of the largest law firm in Korea. He is smart and has carefree, ambitious, bright, hard-working, charming, and patient personality. He has warm heart and won’t yield to unfavorable circumstances.

She is a junior of Harvard Medical School. She immigrated to USA when she was a child. She is the 2nd generation of a poor overseas Korean family. To share the burden of supporting her family, she works odd jobs to earn her own tuition. Although she once said that she would do anything for money, she wouldn’t lose hopes and wouldn’t give in. Unlike many of the 2nd generation of overseas Koreans who are determined to compete with the Whites, her goal is to work as a volunteer in places where the medical services are falling behind.

He is a student of Harvard Law School and is the 2nd generation of an overseas Korean family. He has an ambition to get into the political arena of USA. He admires Lee Soo In. He has low self-esteem when he faces Hyun Woo. Eventually, he overcomes his jealousy and matures.

[edit] Episode 1: (Aired on 11/22/04)
Kim Hyun Woo (played by Kim Rae Won) is leaving for Harvard Law School. On the airplane, he comes across Yoo Jin Ah (played by Kim Min) and she states that she knows the author of the book which Hyun Woo is reading. Since Hyun Woo doesn’t know her, he doesn’t say too much to her.
After Hyun Woo arrives, Han Seul Gil, who was engaged to Hyun Woo arranged by both families, helps Hyun Woo to check into a motel where he would stay for one night. In the motel, Hyun Woo sees Lee Soo In (played by Kim Tae Hee) is intimately with a middle-aged man that makes him assume that Soo In is a prostitute.
Then Hyun Woo meets Seul Gil’s uncle, Oh Yung Jae, a professor of the law school, and he consults with Professor Oh for some suggestions regarding living in the school. He is surprised to see Soo In entering into a lab where she takes of Professor Oh’s clothes. Hyun Woo follows Soo In so that he could solve the puzzle.
Hyun Woo’s roommate introduces him in a gathering of dorm. Hyun Woo meets some classmates and competitors including Jung Min (played by Lee Jung Jin). On the first day in Professor Keynes' lecture, Hyun Woo fails to correctly respond to Keynes, but Jung Min does and that makes Hyun Woo’s self-esteem sink.
In the freshmen welcoming party, Hyun Woo once again sees Soo In and she is with James Yoo who is a famous lawyer and president of his own law firm. Hyun Woo also bumps into Jin Ah, who works for her father. All of a sudden, James Yoo clenches his chest and falls down. Soo In tries her best to apply medical emergency care on James, but …

In Hyun Woo’s mind, he is confused by Soo In’s face and voice. Soo In comes across her father Yong Goo who works in a small restaurant with poor business. She has no place to sleep, so she goes to the library, and she bumps into Hyun Woo.
Hyun Woo still misunderstands that Soo In is a prostitute. Hyun Woo stays awake the whole night. Next day, he goes to Professor Keynes’s class. However, Professor Keynes disallows Hyun Woo to actively participate in his class. Through the introduction of John Ford, Hyun Woo tries to join a study group. However, some members of the group refuse to let him join, and ask Jung Min instead. Under the situation of not being able to get into any group, Seul Gil helps him to hire a tutor. The tutor happens to be Soo In who is a student of Harvard Medical School. Then he realizes that the man who he saw with Soo In in the motel is Soo In’s father.
Later, Hyun Woo learns that Professor Oh’s health is not in good condition and Soo In has been examining Professor Oh’s health. Now Huyn Woo’s puzzle is solved. He also learns that Soo In works odd jobs, studies in the university, and performs volunteer services to AIDS patients. Hyun Woo goes to Professor Keynes’ class again. He senses that Professor Keynes purposely rejects him out of the class. Thus he argues with Professor Keynes. Finally, Hyun Woo is allowed to attend the class of Professor Keynes...

Both Hyun Woo and Jung Min try to date Soo In. Soo In explains to Hyun Woo that she has already accepted the invitation of Jung Min, and Hyun Woo is disappointed. In order to attract Soo In’s attention, Hyun Woo participates in the activity of the AIDS volunteer group. Professor Keynes informs students about the event of court room mock trial/debate.
Professor Keynes announces that he would select two teams that submit proposals for the debate in advance. Jin Ah helps Jung Min in preparation of the paper as he is a potential recruit to her father's law firm. Hyun Woo believes in his study group and prepares. Two teams happen to use the same subject on their paper of debate. Professor Keynes selects two teams. Soo In is in gloomy mood due to the death of one of the AIDS patients. Hyun Woo visits Soo In and comforts her. Then Soo In’s mood gets better because of Hyun Woo. Hyun Woo attempts to kiss Soo In, but …

Jung Min is angry to see Hyun Woo and Soo In sitting on the grass together. Jung Min accepts Jin Ah’s assistance in preparation for the debate. Jung Min’s study group starts hampering Hyun Woo’s study group when they are looking for the judicial precedence.
Irritated by their behaviors, Hyun Woo has a fight with Jung Min; however he is defeated by Jung Min. After Jung Min learns that Hyun Woo is the son of famous lawyer Kim, his competitive spirit is stimulated. Jung Min prepares to fight in the decisive battle of the debate.
Hyun Woo and his friend go to the victim’s house to search. However, it is not helpful. Hyun Woo gets an idea from Seul Gil, and he gets hold of the clue. Finally, the court room meeting starts. Jung Min and Jin Ah use the facts provided by James Yoo to debate with Hyun Woo. At the decisive moment, Hyun Woo presents the decisive reason that makes him win the debate. Hyun Woo and Soo In share the joy of victory. Jung Min tells Jin Ah the fact that his father committed suicide because of Hyun Woo’s father.

Soo In finds an unconscious person and despite Jung Min's warnings about treating a patient without a medical license being illegal, she performs emergency procedures on the person. The persons regular breathing comes back but remains unconscious. Soo In and the professor ends up taking responsibility for Soo In handling the patient without medical license and ends up in a bad situation. Soo In is seriously worried. Hyun Woo tries hard to lessen her worries/difficulties but it isnt easy. Meanwhile, the patient regains consciousness.
However, Soo In and Hyun Woo are unhappily shocked to find out that the patients guardian is filing a law suit against them due to Jin Ah's (Kim Min) persuasion. Jin Ah requests to Jung Min that he find a witness for this law suit and puts Jung Min in a difficult position. In order to help Soo In, Hyun Woo digs through files and ends up in the hospital where the patient is at and tries to see the patient even though visitors are prohibited. Hyun Woo sees Jung Min and Jin Ah in front of the hospital room and he looks at them with a dissaproving eye...

Accordingly to Jin Ah's plan, Jung Min gets a rare chance to participate in an interview for an important summer internship. A side of Jung Min feels caught because of Soo In's hearing but he goes to the interview anyway. Soo In goes to her hearing. By getting professor Keynes help with much difficulty, Hyun Woo finds a way to help Soo In. When the panel is about to make the final decision, Hyun Woo stands up and talks about the law of the Good Samaritan, and after a while, the jury decides not to charge Soo In with having to take responsibility. Jin Ah tells Hyun Woo and Soo In that the patient side decided not to sue her. Soo In and Hyun Woo are overwhelmed with happiness. Jung Min, who had run out of the interview (because he realized also that the Good Samaritan law could help Soo In) and hurried to the trial, is dissapointed/depressed when he sees them together.
Meanwhile, Soo In has to leave for her volunteer work in two days without even having time to confirm her and Hyun Woo's love for one another. Soo In and Hyun Woo rent a beautiful cabin and leave for a trip together. Soo In asks Hyun Woo, who is acting all cute and stuff for Soo In, that she has to decide to stay or go. When he doesn't answer coreectly, she decides to break up with him. The next day, leaving Hyun Woo behind, Soo In leaves...

Hyun Woo returns to Korea after graduating, becomes an attorney and is now is fighting against a strong and well known law firm but he is able to obtain a surprising evidence that becomes a big help to his case. His father introduces a well respected lawyer, Hwang Yoo Mi (Jung Lyuh Wohn) as a candidate for Hyun Woo's future bride. Hyun Woo, who has forcefully met her, couldnt reject her so he makes her walk an hour long walk and buys her chicken feet for dinner. Yoo Mi, understanding Hyun Woo's meaning, cleanly turns around without hesitation. The next day, Hyun Woo waits for a lawyer that he is suppose to work with. Uneventfully, Yoo Mi shows up. Hyun Woo mouth drops open and he isnt able to shut it. Meanwhile, Jung Min and Jin Ah (Kim Min) returns to Korea. Soo In, who is also going to Korea in order to see her father, ends up meeting them. Hyun Woo, who was walking around with Yoo Mi to fix things for his case, sees Soo In....

Hyun Woo wildly runs around the subway station looking for Soo In but in the end isn't able to obtain the miraculous reunion with her. Soo In starts working as a volunteer in a hospital for foreign workers that her senior colleague runs. Hyun Woo ends up going to that hospital as a substitute for his senior colleage Sang Ho, who is working as a lawyer for foreign laborers. Hyun Woo and Soo In end up meeting. Hyun Woo slaps Soo In really hard. Hyun Woo and Soo In are unable to say anything to each other and show an uneasy relationship. Then the two end up talking about how they really feel, resulting in heightened emotions, and causing them to shout and cry at each other. Meanwhile Sang Ho gets hit hard by Jung Min and Jin Ah (Kim Min)'s law firm. Sang Ho, who was in a state of deep worry, dies of overexhaustion but under suspicous circumtstances. After finding Sang Ho dead, Hyun Woo decides to takeover his case. Hearing that Jung Min is part of the law firm that Hyun Woo is fighting against, gets infused. Hyun Woo, who was getting ready for this case, meets face to face with Jung Min....

Hyun Woo concentrates soley on Sang Ho's case. Soo In goes to see Hyun Woo because she misses him, but he treats her coldly and talks to her formally. Soo In isn't able to say anything and leaves after staying there mindlessly. Feeling bad and having heartache, he follows her out but is unable to meet her. Few days later, Hyun Woo goes to the victims village/town and sees Soo In and Jason (the German guy). Soo In and Jason opens a volunteer event to help the villagers. After seeing Soo In angelic actions, Jason goes to the clinic that Soo In is volunteering at and shows interest and promises to donate money. Jin Ah (Kim Min) and Jung Min leaves for the environmental pollution asia company after getting a page from them and Jason, with a cold voice and expression, demands that they settle the case immediately.Meanwhile, Jung Min calls Soo In and makes cozy time for her at a nice, luxurious restaurant. When Jin Ah finds out about this, she purposely lies to Hyun Woo that she needs to talk about the case with him and takes him to the same restaurant that Jung Min and Soo In are in. Jung Min is startled and Soo In, not knowing anything, is highly uncomfortable. Jin Ah tells Soo In that her and Jung Min are engaged and harshly tells her not to see Jung Min anymore. Hyun Woo not being able to see Soo In being treated so badly any longer, takes Soo In by the wrist and leaves. He punches Jung Min, who had followed them outside..

Hyun Woo would like Soo In to help him, and he tells Soo In that he will pay her for her works. Soo In reluctantly accepts Hyun Woo’s offer after consideration. Hyun Woo and Soo In work together and reminisce things happened in the past. Jung Min and Jin Ah investigate how Hyun Woo changed people’s opinions. Jung Min is surprised at the result showing that Hyun Woo’s overseas law suit is for large amount of compensation money.
Hyun Woo’s father and Yoon Mi visit Hyun Woo’s office. Yoon Mi immediately leaves the office after she nervously says hello to Hyun Woo and Soo In. Outside of the office, Soo In tells Yoon Mi that she and Hyun Woo were dating. Inside the office, Hyun Woo and his father have a conversation. For various reasons, Soo In takes Jason’s suggestion to return abroad. Soo In and Hyun Woo spend one last date together. When Soo In is leaving for the airport, he rushes to the airport to say goodbye. At the airport, Hyun Woo and Soo In embrace each other. When Hyun Woo is leaving the airport, Soo In weakly faints …

Soo-In's dad goes and finds Hyun Woo after he sees his daughter unconscious in the hospital. When Hyun Woo finds out,he runs to Soo-In. Hyun Woo gets teary when he sees Soo-In. Hyun Woo stays up all night and looks after Soo-In with effort. Meanwhile, Soo-In regains consciousness, but her doctor orders further tests. The case that Hyun Woo sent to U.S is denied. Hyun Woo finds an interesting way to revive his case. Jason decides to get rid of Hyun Woo. On the night of his Birthday, Hyun Woo goes to meet Soo-In and when he crosses the street, a car heads toward him at a frightening speed....

Hyun Woo ends with a small injury that does not effect his life. Soo-In calms her shocked heart. Dr. Cha insists that Soo-In take an lumbar puncture after seeing her results of the MRI. Soo-In takes the test, overcoming the excruciating pain of the exam. After overhearing Dr. Cha and a nurse talking, she finds out that she has malignant form of lymph disease. Jung Min finds out that Soo-In has a terminal disease. Hyun Woo does not know the results of Soo-In's test so he goes running around looking for important materials to help out his case. However, Jung Min has already found the important witness and turned him around. Jung Min threatens Jason that he knows all of the dark secrets of his company and demmands that Jason hire the most expert doctors to cure Soo-In. If he will do so, then he will make sure that he wins the law suit. Jung Min returns the engagement ring that Jin Ah gave him.

Soo In rejected Hyun Woo’s proposal for she had to undergo chemotherapy.
Soo In knew from Jung Min that Hyun Woo was accused of bribing a witness of the case and his lawyer qualification was deprived. She went to find the witness but couldn’t see him. She left with disappointment.
Soo In told Hyun Woo’s father that she would separate with Hyun Woo if it causes him to help Hyun Woo with his difficult situation. Soo In and the witness’s daughter stayed in the same hospital ward and have chemotherapy together. The witness told Soo In that he was bribed by Jung Min for he needed money badly…

Hyun Woo was wrongly accused of bribery…Soo In begs Jung Min to help Hyun Woo. Jung Min asked Soo In to leave Hyun Woo. Soo In was angry and slapped his face hard.
Hyun Woo was taken by the police. He begged the police to have a day’s time and then he would go back with them.
Hyun Woo hurriedly took Soo In to a wedding dress salon. He let her wear a wedding dress. Hyun Woo looked at the beautiful Soo In with great admiration.
On the wedding day, Hyun Woo’s father appeared and gives him a condo as a wedding gift and Hyun Woo was very pleased. Hyun Woo apologized to his father and they hugged each other.
As the bride walked into the hall, the little girl (witness’s daughter) identified the murderer of her father, who is Jason's assistant. She screamed and pointed him out. The murderer was arrested by the policemen who accompanied Hyun Woo to the wedding venue. At the same time, Jason tried to run away. Hyun Woo and Jung Min caught Jason at the airport.
After the longest wedding ceremony, Hyun Woo and Soo In finally had some sweet moments together…however…

Hyun Woo was very worried as Soo In looked very sick. Jason called, asking him to give up the lawsuit. Hyun Woo was glad to know from Soo In that there was a suitable match for bone marrow transplant. He sent a message to the potential donor, asking her to help Soo In. Hyun Woo and colleagues have many meetings to prepare for the lawsuit. Everyone proposed that Soo In be a witness for the lawsuit. Soo In accidentally heard their discussion and realizes that Jason has connections with the voluntary medical organization that sent her abroad from Harvard, and the target of the lawsuit. She was very shocked. She also understood that Jason used the organization as a shield for the polluting chemical company.

Jason intercepts Anna, the marrow transplant donor, to force Hyun Woo to give up the case. Hyun Woo gave up the lawsuit to save Soo In. As Soo In prepared to receive the bone marrow transplant in the hospital, she saw Jason and Anna together. She left the hospital for Yin Yue. Soo In was sad that Hyun Woo gave up the lawsuit for her. She asked him not to give up. Hyun Woo was convinced and went on with the lawsuit. Jung Min was sad that Yin Yue gave up saving Soo In. But Soo In talked to Jung Min and he cried in her arms. Finally, Hyun Woo, Soo In and Jung Min appeared in court. Jung Min became the witness instead of Soo In. Everybody was shocked. Hyun Woo explained to Jung Min that not only his qualification as a lawyer would be lost being the witness, he might be subjected to legal actions too. Because of Jung Min's accusation, Jason was arrested. Soo In got well because of Anna’s help……

At first I did not believe that I would enjoy this drama. I don't know why, I just did not want to watch it.. However, once I finally did, it turned out to be one of the best Kdramas I have ever watched.
The cast did an outstanding job. I could not ignore the splendid chemistry between Kim Rae Won and Kim Tae Hee.
If you were like me , having doubts about this drama, trust me.. You'll LOVE it so much you will want to watch it over and over again..
