Character Performance

  • Guo Jing is probably most recognized for as a naive, innocent, and a sort of dumb guy. He grew up in mongolia with his Mom, but he still recognizes himself as a man from the Song Dynasty. In spite of his innocence and how gullible he can be, Guo Jing is very brave and honest. Jin Yong had made a very lucky character here. Guo Jing, through a mighty fine luck, has mastered his kung fu in a very short span of time. First, he learned kungfu from Jiang Nan Seven Weirdoes, then he learned a high inner energy from Priest Ma Yu. Afterward, he learned the famous 18 Dragon Palms from Hong Qi Gong, and he learned the "right hand fights left hand" ...totally silly kungfu created by Zhou Bo Tong, and last....he learns the Jiu Yin Zhen Jing!!! The manual which everyone wants to gain. He learns it accidentally, forced by Zhou Bo Tong. I think Jin Yong always did it on his every leading character. Guo Jing transformed from an average guy off the plains of the Mongolian lands to a completely skilled fighter.

Li Yapeng portrayed Guo Jing quite well in his ability to 'sound' stupid, which can also tick people off. But he did a good job on acting out as Guo Jing.

  • Huang Rong is the sweet, cheerful, and intelligent protagonist within this series. Huang Rong is a highly skilled fighter originating from the Peach Blossom Island. Zhou Xun did a great job in portraying Huang Rong as she can be the perky teenager that Huang Rong was.
