Sequel begins where the predecessor ends, with Chang keeping vigil by the bedside of his girlfriend, Tong, who is in a coma.

His tenacity catches the attention of Ho, a colleague who is dating a playboy doctor named Lam. Watching Chang makes Ho realise that she may be wasting her time with Lam.

Elsewhere, Sun’s sister died of AIDS, causing Sun to lapse into depression.

Concerned, Lai starts spending more time with her and they begin a relationship.

Not long after, Lai strays with his assistant Ping. Ping feels guilty about the affair and decides to leave Hong Kong, not realising she is pregnant with Lai’s baby.
